Challenging NFL Overtime Orthodoxy

In 2022, the NFL changed its playoff overtime format to allow each team at least one guaranteed possession in overtime. Since then, it has become orthodoxy for those who win the toss to kick the ball first. This essay shows the flaw in that orthodoxy and shows that teams should continue to take the ball first in overtime.
